I typically steer clear of ongoing recent events, as they generally are still developing and lack the clarity which distance in time can provide. But dang it, I’m tired of being lied to.
I promise not to make this blog solely about The Donald, especially following last week’s entry, but once again- I must go where my pen takes me. In my defense, as a National Socialist, I hold both sides of the political aisle in this country in equal contempt.
In the interest of saving everyone’s time, I’ll give you the punchline now: The recent “tough guy” actions by the U.S. in the Caribbean has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with stopping “narcoterrorists”, and everything to do with increasing profits for energy producers and sticking it to Russia and China at the same time.
Whether it’s Reagan invading Panama, Bill ‘Blue Dress’ Clinton in Somalia, Shrub Jr’s “look Daddy, I invaded Iraq” soiree, or Obamy’s drone strikes in Yemen, presidents evidently love being in the Situation Room. And they’ll make any excuse to be there. Maybe they serve really good coffee. All the better if you’re furthering the interests of your corporate handlers.

June 21, 2025 during the bombing of Iran.
If there is not a big conflict to keep the kettle on, there are no end of little scuffles to keep the President and the Media occupied. And why not? It helps munition sales and makes them look tough to the hawks in their political party, while providing ready-made distractions if needed to shift attention from anything that really matters. How’s that health care bill for the American Worker coming along boys? More to the point, as the authorized use of lethal coercive force is a right usually reserved for governments, it enables Presidents to further the interest of their corporate sponsors in a manner not usually open to businesses: by killing people.
Trump, evidently, has decided Venezuela is a great punching bag for Chevron and other members of the Big Oil. And they are just the most obvious benefactors of his reckless and lawless actions. There is another, deeper layer to the recent missile strikes against speedboats in the Caribbean no one is talking about: like Vietnam before it, Venezuela is becoming the monkey in the middle between two, possibly three, superpowers fighting for global dominance.
The Lie
Of course, you wouldn’t know that if all of your information comes from the Bought-And-Paid-For-Media and walking dildos like Pete Hegseth.
You are an abuser of women — that is the ugly truth and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man (and have been for years)”
~ Hegseth’s mother in email to her son in April 2018

According to the puppets in the White House, the U.S. has moved vast military resources into the waters off Venezuela, including the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the Gerald R. Ford at an estimated cost of $8 million per day, to stop the flow of cocaine into the United States because it is “killing our people”. Net result: 11 speedboats destroyed since September and 80 people killed. For my part, I had no idea cocaine was still a thing- except for misfits like Hunter Biden.
There are at least two problems with that narrative: it isn’t cocaine that is causing the “deaths” Trump is going on about- it’s fentanyl, which is not made from cocaine; and in any event, cocaine doesn’t come from Venezuela: according to the DEA’s own fact-sheet, 90% of the cocaine reaching the U.S. is produced in Columbia, and enters the U.S. via Mexico. The report doesn’t even mention Venezuela.
Cocaine is derived from coca leaves grown in Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia. The cocaine manufacturing process takes place in remote jungle labs where the raw product undergoes a series of chemical transformations. Colombia produces
about 90 percent of the cocaine powder reaching the United States. Most of the cocaine entering the United States comes through Mexico.
~ DOJ/DEA Drug Fact Sheet, December 2024
Likewise, most fentanyl in the U.S. comes from Mexico, and is made from chemicals produced in Chinese labs. So when Trump, referring to a recently destroyed boat, said “All you have to do is look at the cargo that was spattered all over the ocean, big bags of cocaine and fentanyl all over the place”, he was either talking out his ass, or once again, looking into the camera and lying to you with a straight face. Fentanyl continues to be the leading cause of overdose deaths. What’s being done to combat trafficking of fentanyl into the United States? Evidently, attacking the country it doesn’t come from.

Of course, it has become increasingly clear, and acknowledged, that what Trump is really looking for is regime change (because that has worked so well for us in the past. For additional information, see: Syria, Iran, Iraq, Guatemala, Egypt, Vietnam, Laos, Nicaragua, etc).
In August, the U.S. State and Justice departments increased the reward for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s arrest to $50 million. “For over a decade, Maduro has been a leader of Cartel de los Soles, which is responsible for trafficking drugs into the United States,” the news release said. The previous month, the Department of Treasury designated Cartel de los Soles a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization.”
There’s only one problem: Cartel de los Soles isn’t a literal, concrete or hierarchical drug-trafficking organization. It describes a “system of corruption wherein military and political officials profit by working with drug traffickers,” For example, military officials might protect drug traffickers from arrests or ensure their drug shipments are able to get through. In other words, paid to look the other way.

The name Cartel de los Soles is actually a decades-old “tongue-in-cheek” way of referring to the true fact that military officials were involved in – or turned a blind eye – to drug trafficking. “Soles” means sun, and the Venezuelan military uniforms of the Bolivarian National Militia have suns instead of stars for general officer ranks.
Experts say the Venezuelan government (like most South American countries) tolerates illicit activities, including drug-trafficking, in exchange for officers’ political loyalty, because the government can’t pay them adequate salaries. But to use that as evidence to say Maduro or any other government official is the head of a drug cartel is false or at minimum twists the words into something they were never meant to mean. It’s a pay-to-play economy. By way of a personal example, my father recently had a stroke in a central American country. The ambulance drivers needed to be paid in cash, up front, before they would transport him to the hospital. That is the kind of country we are talking about. In any event and as noted above, at best the drug trafficking in Venezuela is a side-show on the stage of the global narcotics trade. So why does Trump assign Maduro membership into a fake “drug cartel” and demand regime change?
One word: Oil.
Black Gold
Here’s a fun fact: Venezuela with 303 billion barrels (Bbbl) is home to the largest known reserves of oil in the world. Full stop. Saudi Arabia ranks second with 267.2 Bbbl, followed by Iran at 208.6 Bbbl and Canada at 163.6 Bbbl. Together, these four countries account for more than half of global oil reserves. The United States, by comparison, holds about 55 Bbbl, placing it ninth globally. This means that Venezuela’s reserves are more than five times larger than those of the US.

Wouldn’t it be great if the United States controlled that oil? Or at the least, if the oil was controlled by a multinational corporation Trump and his sponsors could do business with? Unfortunately for Big Oil and the God of Corporate Profits, in 1998 Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez nationalized the oil industry in Venezuela, prioritizing domestic and political objectives over traditional profits and export markets. Guess who his vice-president was [drum roll here please]- Nicolás Maduro.
Of course, it is not like Venezuela has been the poster-child for participatory democracy and it has been the recipient of international sanctions over the years. This, coupled with aging infrastructure, under-investment, and mismanagement has led to Venezuela being unable to fully exploit its oil reserves. Sanctions imposed during Trump’s first term further crippled the Venezuelan oil industry by hindering access to international financial markets and limiting exports. What could go wrong?
Well, as a result, exports to the US virtually ceased, and Venezuela shifted much of its oil trade to China, which became its largest buyer, along with other countries such as India and Cuba. This, in turn, forced Trump to again show his hand: in March 2025, The Donald imposed a 25 percent tariff on all goods imported into the United States from any country that imports Venezuelan oil, either directly or indirectly. This measure was designed to put additional pressure on nations, such as China, Russia and India.
The overall intent is obvious: force Maduro out of office, shut off oil supplies to China and Russia, and open the reserves to US investments. It has nothing to do with drugs. It has everything to do with helping U.S. energy companies, and he is obligated to do so.
Following the Money
Fossil fuel interests donated heavily to President Trump’s 2024 reelection bid. Trump asked oil and gas executives in 2024 to raise $1 billion for his campaign and told them he’d grant their policy wish list if he won. The investment, he said, would be a “deal” given the taxes and regulation they would avoid under his presidency. He also offered to help fast-track fossil fuel industry mergers and acquisitions if he won.

The industry responded by giving at least $75 million to his campaign and affiliated PACs, thereby making them a top corporate backer of his reelection bid and a crucial source of funding. Several oil tycoons gave millions on their own and hosted fundraisers with Trump and his associates. Some oil and gas executives who hadn’t given Trump money during previous cycles made major donations after attending fundraisers where he pledged to start acting on the industry’s policy priorities as soon as he retook the White House. And that’s just the money we know about.
The money has continued to pour in. Oil and gas companies contributed $11.8 million to Trumps inauguration fund. His super PAC continues to receive millions of dollars, even though he cannot run for a third term. Hmm. What was that we said about Venezuela and “pay to play”? Do the math: Big Oil gives Trump and Company hundreds of millions of dollars, and less than a year later we have a carrier battle group harassing the country with the world’s largest known oil reserves. Surely a coincidence?
Interestingly, after more than three years without oil shipments, in November 2022, the US Department of the Treasury granted Chevron, one of the largest American multinational energy corporations, a short-term license to resume limited oil production and exports from Venezuela. In 2023, the Biden administration continued to renew Chevron’s license, allowing it to carry out limited operations in Venezuela. In fact, when everything is firing on all cylinders, Chevron has extensive operations there. However, while these limitations have allowed Chevron to conduct some business, they have proven to be costly and inconvenient. If a new regime were installed in Venezuela, perhaps one more friendly with the U.S., sanctions could be lifted, business could be resumed at full throttle, and the world’s largest oil reserves could be brought to market. The profits would be stunning.

Vietnam Redux
In addition, as an added incentive, shifting Venezuelan oil exports back to the U.S. means less oil for China and Russia. Heck, that alone is almost worth putting boots on the ground, right? What could go wrong. Of course, Russia and China, particularly China, might not take kindly to the U.S. cutting off a major supplier of one of their strategic resources. China and Venezuela have developed an increasingly intertwined partnership since 2001. Between 2009 and 2019, China sold over $615 million in weapons to Venezuela and there are an estimated 500,000 Chinese immigrants living there. In fact, close to 90% of Beijing’s arms transfers to Latin America have gone to Venezuela.

Likewise, China is Venezuela’s largest trading partner. And thanks to the decade-long US economic blockade and diplomatic sanctions, Venezuela has become increasingly dependent on China. In 2018, Maduro traveled to China, and though the exact details are unknown, he returned with a deal in which Venezuela received tens of billions in loans, trade agreements, and investments. This in addition to the $150 billion the Chinese Development Bank loaned Latin America, a third of which going directly to Venezuela. Also, China announced this August that they will invest $1 billion in an oil well in Venezuela projected to produce 60,000 barrels of crude by the end of 2026 under a 20-year production sharing contract. Chevron need not apply.
In response to Trump sending U.S. men and women to further corporate profits in the Caribbean, the Chinese issued a rather terse and clear statement:
“The actions of the US seriously undermine peace and security of the region, seriously infringe upon the security, sovereignty and legitimate rights and interests of other countries, seriously violate international law…We oppose any foreign forces to interfere in internal affairs of Venezuela under any pretext.”
Not to be left out, as I write this, Maduro has reached out to Putin for help. It is currently believed that a senior Russian general, Oleg Leontievich Makarevich, has been deployed to Venezuela to head what is described as a “rotational advisory mission” of roughly 120 Russian troops, with more to follow. We’ll file this under “developing situation” for now.
Hmm. A third-world country stuck in the middle of two or three super-powers waving their geopoltical wangs for profit and global dominance. Where have I read this story before….
The New Wrinkle

Lastly, in researching this article, I came across an interesting tidbit: Venezuela has the 5th largest Thorium deposits in the world. What is Thorium? I didn’t know either. It turns out, it could very well be the energy source of the future: it serves as a “highly efficient replacement for Uranium while creating no radioactive waste”. Let that sink in for a minute. And the resource is untapped. Venezuela’s 300,000 tons of thorium reserves remain largely unexplored and undeveloped. Despite having South America’s second-largest thorium resources (Brazil is first), limited geological survey work has been conducted since the early 2000s. Guess who has the only working thorium reactor in the world at the moment: yes, that would be China.
Conclusion – Soapbox Time
It’s not about drugs. At all. Not even a little bit. If you wanted to stop a majority of drug deaths in this country, you would be sinking the Chinese ships that are bringing the chemicals to make fentanyl in the Pacific, then bomb the drug factories in Mexico. And any reporter with a set of balls or a backbone would know this. Maybe they do and are simply not allowed to tell you.
I was able to find all of these facts and the essence of the backstory in one night of research. But day after day, Trump and the his lap-poodles stand in front of the microphones and lie while showing little speedboats being blown up. Bread and circuses and our national media playing dutifully along.

I understand that stopping China from expanding their version of communism and world domination is a worthwhile goal. But be honest about it: Tell us the reason we are trying to shut down Venezuela and remove Maduro is that it is the only way to check Chinese expansion into South America. That Venezuelan oil is fueling Chinese ships and Russian tanks. Such honesty might put the soy-boys in congress in their place and reignite an America First movement. That would truly be protecting our borders.
But, national unity is the last thing they want because their true motivation is greed. They don’t want to stop communism on ideological grounds- they want to stop it because it would be bad for business. They’ll engage in illegal activities and make-believe “narco-wars” because that can be hidden and downplayed. When it comes time to report corporate earnings, no one will look too closely at how those earnings were made. A carrier-battle group here, a fallen soldier there… hey look! Our share price went up! Go team Chevron!
I’m tired of the U.S. citizen being played for a chump.
I’m tired of watching my tax money being spent to further corporate profits while everything I need for my family to survive, to say nothing of thrive, becomes unattainable.
I’m tired of Trump checking the boxes his handlers have assigned him and acting like it was his idea.
I’m tired of being lied to.
